From time to time, the Women’s Art Register runs workshops on a range of collection management topics—from archiving and documentation, to conservation and legacy planning. Preserve Your Story 1 Paper and Photographs

The Preserve Your Story workshop series aims to help participants build skills in simple conservation that they can then use on objects at home. In this workshop, professional conservators demonstrate basic approaches to care for paper objects and photographs, followed by a Q&A session.

Preserve Your Story 4 Documentation and Archiving

The Preserve Your Story workshop series aims to help participants build skills in simple conservation that they can then use on objects at home. The final workshop on Documentation and Archiving was presented in person at Richmond Library by art conservator Mar Cruz. The workshop guided participants through accessioning, photographing and documenting their artwork and how best to store the records created.

ABOUT OUR PRESENTERS

Robyn Ho and Eleanor Vallier are the founders of c/o Studios, a conservation practice based in Melbourne that aims to provide artist-, value- and people-centred conservation of modern and contemporary art that is sustainable, inclusive and collaborative. Robyn and Eleanor are both interdisciplinary conservators and have experience working with a wide variety of collections including community organisations, museums, galleries and private clients.

Mar Cruz is an art conservator specialising in objects and new media. Mar holds a Masters of Cultural Materials Conservation from the University of Melbourne and has experience as an art director, copywriter and graphic designer. Mar was previously a volunteer at the Women's Art Register, assisting with a range of archival projects including the Slide Rehousing Project.
