Presented in the Community Hall, as part of Melbourne Now, SAVE AS: was a zine-making workshop designed by the Women’s Art Register.

In the spirit of our Leaving Your Legacy program and community-led memory making, we encouraged participants to use the zine format to express and save their own story. The zines were then deposited into the Women’s Art Register archive, or taken home for the participant’s personal collection.

Alongside the zine-making workshops, our committee members and volunteers were available on the day to discuss W.A.R. projects and membership, and archival items and publications were on display for participants to browse through. A colouring-in activity was provided for younger participants.

Two sessions were run on a drop-in basis, attracting many participants and plenty of zines that are now preserved in the archive.

Although this is a past program, you can still download our template below to print/create your own legacy zine. It has been designed to print to A3 size for folding to A6 size. Check out this handy guide from State Library of Victoria for folding and scoring instructions
