Plenty is happening at the Women’s Art Register! In this edition, we’re welcoming our newest members, introducing our 2026 Artist in Residence, sharing some recent highlights, and inviting you to get involved with W.A.R. and our archive. We also have a few busy months ahead, with volunteer activities, a book fair and more public events on the way. Read on to see what’s happening and how you can take part!

2026 Artist in Residence: Tash Jackson

We’re delighted to welcome Tash Jackson as the 2026 W.A.R. Artist in Residence!

Tash is a Melbourne-based artist working across watercolour and glass casting, exploring the everyday emotions people carry quietly through fragmented imagery and translucent materials. Over the coming months, she’ll be researching and working with the W.A.R. archive at Richmond Library, and we can’t wait to see where her research takes her.

A big thank you to everyone who applied! While we could only select one artist, our archive is always open for research and discovery — artists, researchers, students and anyone curious about women’s art are welcome to explore the collection.

A Visit to the Affordable Art Fair 🎨

Thanks to the Melbourne Society of Women Painters and Sculptors (MSWPS) for generously sharing tickets to the Affordable Art Fair Melbourne! It was a great opportunity to explore the fair and see the work of MSWPS artists among the many artists and galleries represented. A lovely celebration of Melbourne’s creative community!

Calling all W.A.R. volunteers! Join us for a Volunteer Open Day to connect, catch up and learn more about what’s happening at W.A.R.

Calling all art and book lovers! We’ll be heading to a book fair this October with a selection of W.A.R. publications alongside other art-related books for you.
