Ceramic art by Deborah Halpern in 2001 in the Civic Centre of Eltham and surrounding ironwork made in conjunction with her husband. Nilumbik Shire.

 



Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park:
Herring Island, 2.8 hectares in size, is  3 km from the city.   This natural bush island  inspirated curator Maudie Palmer to develop a concept in which artists were commissioned to create site-specific sculptures.

Women Sculptors represented here are:

Julie Collins "Audience" 1997
Working in bluestone taken from the tunnel under the Yarra River, Melbourne sculptor Julie Collins has built a large surreal arena into the hollow of the levee bank. Julie's work  welcomes visitors upon arrival at the Herring Island landing. 
 

A punt service operates from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday, during daylight savings time.This is accessed from a  jetty near boathouses and Cafe. From the road on the south side of the Yarra  east of Church Street Richmond.

The punt is $2 per person/$5 per family, with pensioners, unemployed and children under 12 free.

Women Sculptors represented here are:

Ellen Jose  "Tanderrum" 1997
Together, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists Ellen Jose and Joy Murphy, Wurundjeri Tribal Elder, have imagined a vision for the creation of flight.  This installation flows between two mounds and is made from Mount William Limestone.
